Why aren’t SC beaches clear like Caribbean waters?

In South Carolina, we don't have crystal clear waters like in the Caribbean. Many outsiders assume our oceans are unclean, but that's incorrect. Organisms like jellyfish and algae inhabit our nutrient-rich waters. Little agitation causes the fine sand particles to dance around. These dark bodies conceal a vibrant ecosystem of thriving plants and animals.
