Farm Assistant


Location: North Charleston, SC

Deadline to Apply: October 15, 2022

Part-time (25 hours/week)

 

Works primarily outdoors to move the work of farm production and maintenance forward. 

  • Duties and Responsibilities

    • Responsibilities include:

    • Primary caretaker of livestock

    • Assist with maintenance tasks for the farm (weeding, building beds, etc.)

    • Daily cleanup of farm space

    • Contacting the tree services for wood chips

    • Gathers supplies for sheet mulching

    • Helps with farm supply acquisition

    • Errand support

    • Event setup/cleanup

    • Other farm-related tasks as needed

    • Other duties as assigned.

  • Education/Experience

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Skills Required

    Language Ability: Talking to others to convey information effectively and Communicating effectively as appropriate for the needs of the audience; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

    Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software; Adobe Photoshop; design software; Internet software, and database software.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • Compensation

    $15-$20/hour, depending on skill level
